I got my first ukulele when I was seven years old, my first introduction to fretted-instrument playing. A while back I bought one for my daughter who took to it immediately. Within a weekend she was playing classic uke songs such as Camptown Races, Down By The Riverside, Michael Finnegan and Oh, Susanna! The experience reminded me both what a great instrument the uke is, and and what a great primer it can be for guitar playing.
Hopefully if we have a few students we can put together our own little ukulele band. Great fun for all ages.
